Welcome! This is the official site for Yokai Watch Heartsong, a primarily solo developed Visual Novel set in an alternate continuity of the Yokai Watch series that takes a more magical girl inspired approach.
Follow the day to day adventures of the stylish daughters of fan favorite Yokai, forge bonds with each other and all kinds of yokai, and glamorous battles against a wicked evil that threatens their once peaceful lives.

General FAQ
1. Do I need to know anything about Yo-Kai Watch to play Heartsong?
A: Not at all. Heartsong is designed to be a standalone work that can be enjoyed on it’s own (a common practice in a lot of long running franchises, IE: Transformers, My Little Pony, Gundam, etc). While there are some details for fans, they largely amount to easter eggs and do not define the experince. Heartsong is designed to be enjoyed by fans of all knowledge levels, as well as those who are just curious about what this project may entail.
2. I ran into an error, what do I do!?
A: Stay calm! You can report bugs on the comments section of itch.io and I'll try to look into them the best I can. Though as of typing this (Febuary 23rd, 2026), I'm still working on a major update to roll out with the release of Chapter 2 that should hopefully iron out a few noteable bugs.
3. Can I give you money for this project?
A: I wish. I've disabled payments on itch.io due to the nature of it being a fan project. I don't want Hinozall appearing in my house at 3 am with a Cease and Desist. But there might be work arounds in the future if you're feeling extra generous.
4. Will there be voice acting?
A: Right now it's a big "maybe". Dialogue can change a lot when I write chapters, and with the sheer amount of characters planned, it would be extremely difficult to cast (For reference, about 26 different characters show up in just Chapter 1 alone). Maybe once all chapters have been finalized to a point I’m happy with, I’ll think more about a casting call, but I wouldn't bet on it.
5. Do you use any social media sites? Where can I submit fanart?
A: I do not. I prefer being a hermit in the woods so to speak. Feel free to link any fanart with the guestbook feature, or via email at heartsongdev@protonmail.com . You are also more than welcome to submit any questions over to the linked email and I'll do my best to answer.
6. When will the next chapter come out?
When it's done. I will be sure to have a marquee at the top detailing new updates when they are released. Right now I'm taking time to tinker and fine tune, as well as have more planned so hopefully gaps don't feel as long.
